Snowboarding helmets come in various forms, from high end to basic.  The first thing you should decide if you’re just picking up the sport, is fit.  The helmet should snug against your head but be comfortable.  If you find that you’re having trouble with a loose fit, extra fit pads can help solve the problem.  The second thing to consider is helmet construction.  A basic snowboarding helmet is probably fine for beginners as you won’t be attempting anything more than staying up on the board on the beginners hill.  Once you’re past the novice class, you may wish to upgrade, but this won’t be necessary until you’ve moved on to more extreme challenges.  Finally, and really least important is style.  As long as the safety issues have been addressed, have fun choosing a helmet that makes as much a statement as the clothes you wear.
